How To Make Space In Your Bedroom

We all love a bit of shopping but it does get to the point where you have no room for anything else. But it is okay because I am here to help you with some tips to make more space in your bedroom. And how to be more organised too. Especially when you are in a rush in the morning. Are you like most other people who are so tired in the mornings, that you get out of bed half an hour before you need to leave for work?

Organising things in your room makes it easier to get ready. Especially when you are in a rush. But it also means that an organised bedroom (or home) is better for your mental health. If your bedroom is more organised, you will wake up every morning and feel ready to start the day. You will also enjoy spending time there too, it will become your sanctuary, a place you love to be.

Ideas To Help You

There are many different ways that you can make more space in your bedroom. Here are a few ideas to help you out.

Space Under The Bed

You can utilise space underneath your bed. If there isn’t enough space, you can put blocks under the legs to make it higher. Then you can place storage underneath the bed. Use the storage to put either your bedding or your out of season clothes. This means the storage is out of view and it won’t clutter up your bedroom. It looks better than having storage stacking boxes.

Organise Your Shoes

How many times have you been ready to go out and cannot remember where you put your shoes? This can be sorted by an age-old hack. Keep the shoes in shoe boxes, they will stack easily then. And use your printer to print off a picture of the shoes. Use a glue stick and stick the picture on the front of the box. You know what shoes are in what boxes then. You can also use polaroids as they did a few years ago, but printing the photos yourself is more cost-effective.

Put Some Shelving Up

Shelves are great for storage, as well as displaying things. And you can put shelves up in spaces that you never thought possible.

  • Over a door frame – Putting a shelf over a door frame means it is out of the way. You will not bang your head on it and you can display things like the jars of jewellery that we talk about later on in the blog post. You can also use this kind of shelf for storing books.
  • Over a hanging rail – Hanging rails are more popular than ever and you usually get storage at the bottom. But hanging shelves over the top is great for storing your shoe boxes.
  • Add hooks to the shelves – If you add some hooks to the shelves, you can hang jewellery from them. You could also use the hooks to hang plastic baskets to put trinkets in. But don’t make them too heavy otherwise they will fall.
  • Add Shelves inside a wardrobe – If there are no shelves in your wardrobe, you can add some for putting folded clothes on. Then these shelves are hidden away when the doors are closed.

Clear Jars For Storage

Clear jars are the absolute best for storage because you can see what is inside them. Use them to store jewellery and trinkets. Jewellery is easily seen in the jars and you can grab what you want or need. Use them for popping cotton wool in or fake flowers for decoration. You can buy some great decorative jars for storage.

Sort Your Wardrobe Out

You do not need all of the season’s clothes in your wardrobe at the same time. Can you imagine how much space that must take up? Have a sort out every winter and summer, putting away the clothes that you do not need. You can store them in vacuum bags and place them in boxes under your bed. Or you can place them at the bottom of the wardrobe in vacuum bags.

Store Handbags Nicely

If you are a handbag collector, then you will want to store them nicely. More expensive bags usually come with a dust bag, so you can pop them in there. But if they don’t you can use a plastic bag or a cloth pillowcase to store them in. Stuff them with old Amazon packaging paper or newspaper, so they keep their shape. They can then be stored safely and easy to grab in a rush.
