Moving house is stressful and when there are boxes everywhere it is difficult to imagine your house looking good, isn’t it? That said you want to invite people around as soon as possible to show off your new home so here are some tips that should help you to make your home look good the day you move in with minimal effort as moving day is stressful enough!

Use the time before the van arrives
It is common for you to arrive at your new home before the removal van. This is especially the case for a removal service in and around London due to the congestion zones etc. whether you have 10 minutes or 30 minutes you can spend this time cleaning the main surfaces such as the fireplace, the bathroom and the kitchen worktops.
Using anti-bacterial wipes you can quickly clean these areas so that they look good straight away. Just having a shiny clean worktop can make you feel better about your new home.
Choose where the boxes will go
Some boxes you know you will unpack quickly straight away such as items on coathangers for the wardrobes and kitchen utensils. Other items take a bit longer to sort out and are unlikely to be done in the first week in your new house.
Choose where you will store all the empty boxes that you unpack but also where you will keep the boxes waiting to be unpacked. If you can find suitable places to keep all of these then there will be some rooms which can quickly look good because they do not need to have piles of boxes in the corner.
As the removal company brings the boxes in you can direct them to place the boxes in the areas you have designated so they are neatly stacked and other areas are kept tidily.
Prioritise unpacking what you need for guests
If you would like to have guests over sooner than later then ensure you have enough glasses or mugs and your kettle unpacked as soon as possible. Your guests will not notice that you have 4 plates instead of 20 plates unpacked or that your books are not all on your shelves but they will notice if they have no drink!
Get pictures on the walls
One quick job that can change the look of your home quickly is to put up mirrors, pictures and shelves to make the house look homely. If you know where you want to put these kinds of things then pop them up as soon as you can and you will feel more at home instantly as well as make your home feel more inviting to guests.
